There was no play possible on the first day of the ICC Men’s Africa T20 World Cup Qualifiers because a heavy night downpour that made it impossible to have any action.
All the games in Lugogo and Kyambogo were declared abandoned and have been rescheduled for the rest on Wednesday. The decision means none of the participating teams lost points and will all start with a new mindset on Monday.
With the threat of more rain on the forecast, the tournament officials decided to move the big bulk of games from Lugogo to Kyambogo. Lugogo due to its swampy nature drains poorly in case of a heavy downpour compared to Kyambogo which drains better.
All the morning games scheduled for Lugogo have been moved to Kyambogo effective tomorrow and only afternoon games will be played at Lugogo. These changes don’t affect Uganda that has three games in Lugogo all of which are afternoon games.

The rules stipulate that at least 60% of the tournament has to be played to get a winner and if this is impossible the highest ranked teams in the tournament will be chosen as the representatives for Africa. In this case Namibia and Ghana the highest ranked teams according to T20 rankings will sail through to the next round of qualifiers.
Weather permitting, the tournament will kick off tomorrow with the Cricket Cranes taking on Botswana in the afternoon at Lugogo.
At Kyambogo, Nigeria will take on Kenya in the morning while Ghana will face top seeds Namibia in the afternoon.
