The Confederation of African Football has called for the replay of the 2018-19 Caf Champions League despite Esperance of Tunisia lifting the title a week ago.

The Tunisian side was leading 1-0 inside 60 minutes but Wydad Casablanca protested a referee’s decision to disallow what appeared to be a legit goal without consulting VAR.

They later refused to play again forcing the game to stop and after over an hour, a decision was made to hand the title to Esperance who were leading 2-1 on aggregate.

But Caf, sitting an executive emergency meeting in Paris, has ordered the Tunisian side to return the trophy and medals ahead of the second leg to be replayed at a neutral venue with South Africa or Egypt the likely hosts.

The replay will be after the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, which ends on 19 July.

  1. Hello.
    Thanks for the good work.
As stewards of information in Uganda’s Sports industry, I thought it best to ask you.
I have a question about the Masaza competition.
    Does it involve ladies?
If yes, good. If no, it should be suggested to the organisers, such that it is more inclusive.
