Just a game into the third and final bend of the regular season, the battle for the summit across both groups (Hat trick and Treble) in the FUFA Juniors League is still tight.
Bearing in mind that only the leaders in either group at the end of the regular season qualify for the championship final, several teams are targeting good performance in the final six games.
Ahead of Matchday 16 on Thursday, the battle for the top spots will carry on with all the teams in action.
Despite suffering a shocking defeat to Maroons in their last game of the second round, defending champions Vipers Junior Team came back stronger against URA Junior Team to win 4-1.
The victory elevated them to second place in Treble Group on 44 points, only two behind leaders KCCA SA.
Therefore, the target ahead of their home encounter against Onduparaka JT will be to secure maximum points and keep within breathing space of KCCA SA.
Ivan Asaba, Najib Yiga, Andrew Kawooya and Gavin Kizito Mugweri are expected to lead Vipers at St. Mary’s Kitende.
Onduparaka JT lost to Vipers in the final last season and will be seeking for revenge. However, they are a distant third on 29 points despite having a game in hand.
KCCA SA will be at home to Police Armless Brigade, wounded URA have made the daunting trip to Zombo to face Paidha Black Angels while Ndejje University host Maroons in Buziga.
In hat trick group, BUL JT will be hoping to maintain their grip at the summit as they take on Tooro United in Njeru.
The Jinja-based side is on 38 points, one ahead of Mbarara City who play Express JT at Kakyeka stadium.
Third-placed Kirinya Jinja SS entertain Bright Stars at the Mighty Arena while SC Villa Jogoo who fell 3-0 to Mbarara City over the weekend will be seeking for redemption with a home fixture against Nyamityobora.
