A total of 23 goals were scored in the eight matches for the opening round of the 2019 Masaza football tournament (sponsored by Airtel Uganda).

After the official opening Masengere group opener where Ssingo beat visiting Ssese 3-0 at the Mityana Ssaza ground, seven more matches were held over the weekend.

Augustine Nsumba’s coached Kyaggwe overcame Busujju 3-2 in a Muganzirwaza group duel.

The other same group match witnessed Butambala out-wit Kabula 3-1.

Record winners Gomba got to a perfect start, triumphing away 3-1 over Islanders Buvuma in a Masengere group game.

Kooki beat visiting Mawokota in Butikiro group as the highly billed Bulemezi and Buddu clash played on a slippery Kasana play ground ended goalless.

In Bulange group, Buwekula edged visiting Kyadondo 2-1 in Mubende and a star studded Busiro pipped Bulili 1-0.

Match day two will be played this coming weekend.

Telecommunications giants Airtel Uganda are the main sponsors of the Masaza football tournament.

  1. Masaza cup is the best tournament in Uganda. In Buwekula yesterday 9th June was so colorful as the Home team outwits the Kyaddondo vistors by 2:1. The Uganda u17 young star Yiga Najib netted a free Kick at start of the match and finalized it before the end of the first half of the game at Kasenyi Play ground in Mubende.
    Buwekula this season decided to use mostly the home based players.
    Home based players in the First match of Buwekula againt Kyaddondo were, Captain Yiga Najib 14, Ssempijja vicent 10, Ssemanda Geofrey 12, Kikambi Junior 5, Otieno Raymond 8, Goal Keeper Kibirige Ivan 1, Aulicobua Gift 7 among others.
