Junior Gazelles extended their perfect start at the Zone 5 U16 Qualifiers with a come-from-behind win over Rwanda at Amahoro Stadium on Wednesday.
Led by Maria Najjuma who exploded for 31 points and picked 36 boards, the Ugandans erased a four-point halftime deficit to edge their hosts 63-55.
The Ugandan youngsters trailed 17-14 after the opening ten minutes and were edged 16-15 in the second quarter.
Regina Ajuma who logged 40 minutes came in handy with 11 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Shilla Lamunu also scored 11 points in a typical youth game in which Uganda shot 28-of-94 from the floor and outrebounded Rwanda 75-60.

In the boys’ category, the Junior Silverbacks were terribly bruised by their Rwanda counterparts, losing 96-36.
Jonathan Kasilisimbi, the only Ugandan to reach double figure scored 10 points.
Kevin Ishema scored 20 points and picked 8 rebounds to lead Rwanda, Pacifique Mutabazi added 19 points and Roman Kizito contributed 15 points in the dominant performance.
