Virtually all professional sportsmen have at any one stage in their budding careers dreamt of a decent life they currently enjoy.

Dreams aside, the lowest common multiples for these successful and filthy rich athletes is always embedded alongside commitment, focus, hard-working and determination.

In the face of Steven Miguel Kigemuzi, an aspiring young footballer, the drumbeat and script are no different from his two role models – Kylian Mbappé Lottin, a Frenchman and Uganda Cranes’ Abdul Lumala.

Like Mbappé, the second-most expensive Association Football transfer (€135 M, from Monaco to Paris Saint-Germain in 2018), Kigemuzi looks to such the foot marks left by the young French FIFA World Cup-winning player.

“I always look to famous footballers like Kylian Mbappe and Abdul Lumala. It is the plain reason I work hard every day,” Kigemuzi, a resident of Bugonga in Entebbe attests.

Born 18 years ago to Disan Mukasa Muganga and Resty Namugaba in Entebbe Municipality, Kigemuzi yearns to follow the footsteps of his older brothers who are also footballers.

“I want to play football outside the country professionally at a higher level outside and also play for the senior national team of Uganda. My family elder brothers inspired me to play football and they have played for the senior national team of Uganda, Simon Namwanjja, Sandi Mukiibi, and Abraham Ndugwa,” he adds.

He started his career at Entebbe Young Soccer Academy in 2013-2014.

Since that time, he has since featured at Proline Junior Team (2015) and currently at Entebbe Football Club.

Newly signed Wakiso Giants left back Simon Namwanja remains Kigemuzi’s toughest opponent he has faced thus far.

Upon that background, he envisages every day as a learning platform to better his skills.
