Uganda Cranes attacking midfielder William Luwagga Kizito was on target over the weekend for his side Shakhtar Karagandy.
The former Vipers (then Bunamwaya) man stepped off the bench for Ivan Pesic at the start of the second half and scored twice in a space of nine minutes with his second putting Karagandy 2-1 in front but the side couldn’t hold on as they lost, 3-2, to FC Ordabasy.
It was mixed emotions in the aftermath of the game for Luwagga who has in the past turned out for Portuguese side Rio Ave.
“It wasn’t a perfect day because we lost the game after giving all we would. Yes, I scored a brace but the dressing room was down,” he said.
Karagandy hosts K. Almaty on Sunday, August 31 and Luwagga hopes for a better result.
“We wanted a better result and come Sunday, we will do our best to get maximum points.”
About his first brace for the club, Luwagga said: “Credit goes to the team because however much I made the ball cross the line, we fought as a team.
“All I can say is to keep helping my team archive the best. Let it be on the scoreboard or not, much as scoring is every forward’s drug in this beautiful game.”
