Buddu out-smarted a dominant Mawokota outfit 2-0 during the last quarter final match of the on-going Masaza Cup at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.

Second half substitute Farouk Ssekayi and Marvin Kavuma scored two late goals for the 2016 Masaza Cup champions.

Despite the early dominance by Mawokota who are coached by former Uganda Cranes international Richard Malinga, it is Buddu that carried the day.

Handled by UEFA “D” licenced coach Michael Skills Lukyamuzi, Buddu got the first goal in the 84th minute through teenager Ssekayi, moments after being introduced for Sharif Ssengendo.

Ssekayi turned provider for Kavuma who headed past Bugerere goalkeeper Anthony Emojong in the second minute of added  time.

Mawokota had earlier threatened on the slippery Njeru turf through their tricky and exciting players; Geoffrey Oyaka, Nicholas Jjonga, Joreme Otim, Douglas Oryee, Isaac Ofoyrwith and center forward Frank Rutaganzwa.

Buddu will now face the defending champions Bulemeezi in Thursday’s semi-final.

The other semi-final will witness the record champions Gomba lock-horns against Busiro.

Gomba had smiled 2-1 over Bugerere with both the victors’ goals coming in familiar fashion; off in-swinging corner-kicks by Charles Bbaale.

Bbaale is now the tournament top scorer with 7 goals.

The final is tentatively set to be played on Saturday, 23rd January 2021.
