Halid Lwaliwa has declared himself fit to face Togo in African Nations Championship (CHAN) on Friday.

During a pre-match press conference on Thursday, the Uganda Cranes captain who missed the opener against Rwanda due to a troublesome hamstring said he is fit to face the West Africans.

“I am back and training well. The decision to select me for the game is in the hands of the coach. However, I am fit and ready to play,” said the center back as quoted by the Fufa website.

Lwaliwa says the Cranes must improve following a goalless draw with Rwanda on Monday.

“Our character that brought us to the CHAN Finals is still vibrant and intact. We shall stick to that as a team to get results. We didn’t get what we desired for on Monday but we also know that we must improve.”

Uganda will need maximum point to brighten their chances of going past the group stage for the first time in the tournament tailored for locally based players.
