Yumbe district based Calvary Football Club is a newly promoted entity in the second tier division of Uganda’s football pyramid – The FUFA Big League.
This club, christened as “The Horizon Stars” has its tap roots deeply embedded on the values of Christianity with a firm base of a church foundation.
Since the 8th August 2008, Calvary football club has been in existence and has growing in stature and popularity.
Back then, the mission pastor Vincent Aniku, now current director proposed harvest lives through the sports ministry.

In the club’s first six years, the diligent hands of David Adebo (the current club Chief Executive Officer) were so much appreciated.
Over the seasons, the club drastically grew with the appointment of Aniku as chairperson.
On 31st October 2020, Calvary FC was elevated to StarTimes FUFA Big status following a 2-0 win over Northern Gateway at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
Live wire striker Kassim Talib and winger Jamil Asega won the day for the Yumbe based club.
According to the chairperson, the club’s mission is to groom explicit talent and qualify for the Uganda Premier League.

At present situation, the club reached a Memorandum of Understanding with the management of Onduparaka Football Club to use the AbaBet GreenLight Stadium as their home ground.
In the meantime, Calvary will undertake developments on the their current training ground at Midigo Secondary School in Yumbe.
Relatedly, the club acquired 6 hectares of land at Midigo Primary School that has been since graded and await a major undertaking (stadium development).
From last season, the club kits were sponsored by two US based firms; Vizari Sports Company and Fox plus with proposals to extend the contract.
Besides securing a home of their own, the club is in urgent quest of a 40 seater bus with a total budget estimate of Shs 250,000,000 (Shs 150,000,000 is already in the coffers).

The firm administrative structures were hence forth formed to ensure the smooth operations.
Joseph Adebo is vice chairperson to Aniku, Onzima Kizito as team manager.
Karim Yayi is the vice team manager as Samuel Asiku is the treasurer. Hard working David Adebo serves as the club’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Paul Chandia is the in charge of media operations alongside Joshua Kenye Liam (PRO), George Munduga (security), Godfrey Munduga (transport), Anthony Oluka (adviser), Maxwell Edell (welfare) with the duo of Munduga and Jimmy Toko as drivers.
Ahmed Borine Olima is the head coach, assisted by Moses Edema Jarul.
Vastly experienced Bosco Dudu is the technical director.
The club has three doctors in Emmanuel Adriko, Patrick Juruga, and an iron lady; Harriet Ann whilst Mansur Abujere is in charge of the club equipment.
In preparation for the grueling demands of the FUFA Big League, the club has consolidated from last season’s squad and made important additions.
Former Vipers, KJT- Rwenshema, Busoga United and Onduparaka striker Julius Malingumu is the biggest catch.
Others are the Saviours duo of Osman Weffuli and Moses Halidi, Sabir Andama (Onduparaka), Bashir Adinan (Onduparka), Allan Mahad (Arua Soccer Academy), Hassan Muhammad (Masavu) and winger Paul Otim (free agent), among others.
The usual suspects who were part and partial of the promotional struggles from the regional league include the club’s poster-boy Talib Kassim, Chrsitopher Agotre, Junior Andama, Omar Luate, Abel Ayiko, Brian Okumu, Rahuman Feni,
Francis Bua Ayiko, Jamal Tabuga, Abdul Rahuman Andima, Milton Afema, Emmanuel Adriko, Bashir Alinda, Swadik Onzima, Bernard Banduga, Jamil Vardy Asega, Brian Olega and Geofrey Ociti.
Calvary FC is in the Elgon group of the 2021 FUFA Big League alongside Gaddafi, Paidha Black Angels, Mbale Heroes, Arua Hill, Maroons, Kiboga Young, Kayaks and Blacks Power.
The FUFA Big League is ear-marked to kick off on 25th March 2021.
