Express FC secured their place into the round of 16 of the Uganda Cup after overcoming Kyetume FC on Saturday at Wankulukuku.

Second half substitute Frank Kalanda scored a late penalty to help the Red Eagles win 1-0 and advance 3-2 on aggregate.

The first leg at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru had ended in a two-all draw.

In a game of few scoring chances, Kalanda who had replaced Muzamiru Mutyaba at the start of the second half scored from the spot in the 86th minute.

Martin Kizza seemed to have gone down easily after a challenge from Felix Okot but centre referee Rajab Bakasambe pointed to the spot.

Kalanda took the responsibility to slot home despite goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa going the right direction.

Kyetume on the other hand didn’t have realistic attempts at goal. Baker Buyala who started as the target man was withdrawn before the break.

Even when they brought on Robert Ssentongo and Feni Ali, the Slaughters failed to find the outlet.
