Uganda’s 2019 National Rally champions Yasin Nasser and Ali Katumba have set their sights on a top finish in the weekend Africa Rally Championship Equator rally in Naivasha, Kenya.

Nasser’s devotion to the regional championship had been halted by the outbreak of Covid-19.

He is now in full speed to challenge for the African honours.

“Before covid came, we had dedicated the year to focus on ARC and East African championship.

“With Equator rally already happening, we shall decide whether to carry on with our plans for ARC this year,” said Nasser.

The Ugandan rally champion is looking at gaining enough points when he takes on some of the continent’s best.

“The rally is going to be really tight with a lineup of experienced drivers. But we shall try and do our best to fit in and claim some points for ARC.

“Our main focus now is to keep a clean race and finish. Then we can see what follows,” he added.

Nasser and Katumba had their best finish on the Kenyan ARC round when they finished ninth overall in 2019.

The team join Ronald Sebuguzi, Jas Mangat, Rajiv Ruparelia, Duncan Mubiru, Kepher Walubi and Amaanraj Rai who make up the team from Uganda in the Equator rally.
