Police Football Club was merciless during their 6-1 humiliation of Malaba Youth Development Association (MYDA) on match day 20 of the 2020-21 Star Times Uganda Premier League on Saturday, 24th April 2021.
A brace apiece from Ben Ocen and Brian Muruli Mayanja as well as Frank Tumwesigye and Muwadda Mawejje inspired the 2005 league winners to a memorable victory at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
First half substitute Moses Batali scored the consolation for the league new comers.
Ocen opened the scoring as early as the second minute with Tumwesigye providing the assist.
Muruli made it two on the stroke of the opening quarter hour mark with a beautiful header.
Two minutes later, Tumwesigye scored Police’s third goal to open up a 3-0 lead heading to the first 20 minutes of the game.
Pacy winger Muwadda Mawejje scored Police’s fourth goal after 27 minutes and Muruli completed his brace on the half hour mark.
The visitors pulled their consolation through Batali with two minutes to play in the opening stanza as Police led 5-1 by the break.
Batali had replaced Mark Bassi on 21 minutes.
In the second half, Police scored only one goal, coming through Muruli in the 80th minute.
Tumwesigye was named the pilsner man of the match for the great performance on the evening.
Police attained their 11th win in 20 matches. The Cops have now collected 37 points, 7 shy of the leaders URA who drew goal-less away to Soltilo Bright Stars.
Meanwhile, Busoga United edged BUL 1-0 in the epic Jinja derby played at the Kyabazinga Stadium, Bugembe in Jinja city.
At the Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara, Mbarara City overcame visiting Sports Club Villa 2-1.
