Ugandan female sprinter Shina Leni is feeling ecstatic after setting a 400m season’s best at the 6th UAF National Athletics Trials at Namboole Stadium on Saturday.

The star powered herself in the final 200m to top the list in 52.17 before posting 23.60 in 200 metres.

Talking up her progress after bouts of hard work in the previous months, Leni said; “Very happy with my day today in Kampala.

“A season’s best of 52.17 in the 400 metres and 23.60 in the 200 metres. My hard work is paying off, more work to do. Thank you to my coaches and my team.”

Leni was coming off an appearance at the All Comers Meet where she reached the tape fourth in 52.77 at National Heroes Stadium, Lusaka, Zambia.

She represented Uganda at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, reaching the semifinals.

She also featured at the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha but didn’t go past the heats.
