UPDF F received 180 sets of jerseys (home and away), 100 footballs and 30 pairs of playing boots.

Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) Football Club has received a timely kits donation worthy $ 10,000 (at least 35.7M) from Health Haven (H.H) Clinic.

The assortment of the donated equipment has 180 sets of jerseys (home and away), 100 footballs and 30 pairs of playing boots.

These were officially handed over to the club Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ashraf Miiro, flanked by the long serving team captain Denis Ssekitoleko.

The ceremony took place at the Clinic’s headquarters in Bukoto, Kampala on Thursday, 29 April 2021.

Dr. Elizabeth Kutamba Akankunda, a Pediatrician by profession elucidated that this donation is part of Health Haven’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) cause at an opportune timing when they are about to celebrate four years of existence.

We are delighted to partner with UPDF. The forces have done a great commendable work and this is pay-back time. As Health Haven Clinic, this is a CSR drive as we celebrate four years in September. This is just the beginning as we plan to extend further support.

Health Haven director, also the in charge of business development and resource management Prof. Denis Akankunda Bwesigye equated the partnership to a sown seed.

Sports is a global religion. We have started advocacy and call upon the other entities in business to join the bandwagon. This is a seed sown and if resources allow, we plan to spread wings. We are appreciating the good deeds of UPDF since time immemorial. We are happy for the peace that UPDF has created over the years.

UPDF Football Club’s sincere and humble appreciation was conveyed by the CEO Miiro and skipper Ssekitoleko.

Miiro lauded Health Haven for the kind gesture which he dubbed as a great boost.

“This is a great boost to the UPDF Football Club family. We have been lacking quality boots and balls. Surely, we promise better performance because good equipment in sports determines great performance” Miiro stated.

A delighted Ssekitoleko vowed to reward the faith of partners as Health Haven into tangible results.

“This is another great boost. The club has been struggling with equipment especially balls and boots. This has been sorted and we promise the best performance as the season winds down and in the Stanbic Uganda Cup” Ssekitoleko stated.

UPDF plays Vipers in a two legged Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 16 stage and has 9 more games before the close of business for the 2020-21 Uganda Premier League.
