The Pearl of Africa rally has been postponed.
The Pearl rally, scheduled as the African Rally Championship, was due for 20-22 August. However, due to the country’s COVID-19 lockdown restrictions, the event will be set for a later date.
The decision was reached after Uganda was put under lockdown for 42 days following an increase of Covid-19 cases in the country.

Both public and private transport was restricted for the period.
“In the event that the lockdown is lifted, time left thereafter will not be sufficient to organize the event to the standards deserving of the ‘Pearl of Africa Rally,” reads an excerpt from the local motorsport federation press release.
FMU will wait on the FIA for new dates.
The 2021 Africa Rally Championship is an extension from the 2020 season.
The championship heads to Tanzania this weekend for the third round.
Subsequent rounds will be hosted in Zambia, Rwanda, and South Africa.
