International Build Up Match: Tuesday, 18th January 2022

  • Moldova Vs Uganda Cranes (5 PM)
  • At the Titanic Deluxe Belek Football Center, Turkey

By Monday, January 17, 2022, a distant 99 places separate the 181st positioned Moldova from Uganda Cranes who sit in the 82nd place.

These two countries face off during an international build up duel on Tuesday, 18th January 2022 at the Titanic Deluxe Belek Football Center in Turkey.

This is the third build up for Uganda Cranes in a space of 7 days, following a 1-all draw with Iceland (positioned 62nd on the FIFA leaderboard) and a 2-2 stalemate with Romanian top flight club FC Botosani.

Against Moldova, Uganda Cranes will therefore be on a mission possible to secure victory; maintain the scoring spree and avoid conceding the goals.

From the two build up games played, there are plenty of positives to report home.

First things first; the team has managed to score three goals, played coordinated football and accorded as much playing time to most players that traveled.

The only grey patch has been the defensive part of conceding goals (three).

Unattached striker Patrick Henry Kaddu scored the penalty against Iceland that leveled the match following a foul in the forbidden area i

Vipers’ forward Yunus Junior Sentamu and midfielder Bobosi Byaruhanga netted the goals against FC Botosani before conceding two penalties.

Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic is already a delighted party for the international football exposure to his charges.

“One match is far better than 50 training sessions combined. To have such international matches is the best thing to have to Uganda’s football at a time we rebuilding the team ahead of the CHAN and AFCON qualifiers” Micho revealed.

Head coach Micho shares something with the team manager Geofrey Massa

Micho alongside his technical members (Moses Basena, Fred Kajoba Kisitu and others) are expected to continue tinkering with the team prior to the Moldova duel to continue trying out the different partnerships in departments, tactics and basically accord general playing time.

Still, it is too early for defender Kenneth Ssemakula to return to action after being admitted in a Turkish health facility for an alleged stomach infection.

After Moldova, Uganda Cranes will play still two more international build ups against Iraq (75th on the FIFA Ranking) and Bahrain (91st).
