City lawyer Geoffrey Odur Ojok joined the over 200 golfers during the 2022 Singleton Golf match play qualifiers at the par-71 Entebbe Golf course.
Odur was among the golfers who made the cut for the first round slated on 12th February 2022.
Playing off handicap 29 (stroke index 24.2), the Uganda Golf Club member returned a net score of 65, as his partner Dickinson Lony Akena scored 78 for a combined 143 total, surpassing the pass mark of 153.

He was rewarded with a trophy for being second runners up in group C, behind William Bizibu and Dejan Stephanovic.
He has attributed the performance to constant training and playing basic golf.
“I have been training well and constantly. I am always on the range, fairways and greens at Uganda Golf Club with the professional (Brian Toolit). This has improved my game for the better” Odur who only commenced the game in 2020 noted.

Odur and his partner Akena will face Kiwanuka Ssuubi and Timothy Mwandha during the first one.
He believes they will make it to the last 32 given the time between now and the date for the first round.

“We shall continue training to perfect the grey areas which need improvement” Odur, a member at GEM Advocates in Kamwokya added.
Besides Golf, Odur is also actively involved in football as the vice chairman for Mbale Heroes and the chairman of the legal committee at Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).

Thomas Kato (handicap 26) was the overall best player during the qualification round with 64 nett, winning himself an HTC phone.
The championship will climax in July 2022 with the grand finale where the winning pair will earn a return ticket to Dubai.
Singleton is the main sponsor of this biggest match play tournament in Uganda with the other co-partners being DSTV, HTC, NCBA Bank, Case Medicare, Riders Lounge and others.
