Nakawa Division Member of Parliament Hon. Ronald Balimwezo Nsubuga is a jovial personality who is loved to the brim by the residents in the constituency and beyond.

Hon. Balimwezo graced the official launch of the 2022 Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Alumni run at the Nakawa main campus on Wednesday, 9th March.

The run is intended to raise funds for university education of the disabled girl child.

The legislator led a dance as Pastor Wilson Bugembe’s “Katonda Ya’badde Mweno’esonga” song was played aloud.

Guest runner Stephen Kiprotich, former CommonWealth gold medalist Dorcus Inzikuru, MUBS Principal professor Wasswa Balunywa, sponsors’ representatives all danced.

“I am a disabled person myself and the reason to support the disabled people is worthwhile through the MUBS Alumni run. I call upon the people to come in large numbers and support this cause” Hon Balimwezo appealed.

MUBS Principal Prof. Balunywa expressed gratitude towards the various partners and sponsors who have boldly come on board to support this Alumni.

“I thank the partners and sponsors in the MUBS Alumni run. I also call upon the others to join this noble cause” Professor Balunywa called.

Stephen Kiprotich, recently appointed to the National Council of Sports (NCS) board was humbled for the opportunity to participate as a guest runner to support the disabled get university education.

“This is a special cause that I am happy to be part of. My mother is disabled but she gave birth to me and I have become a special person in society. Let us support this MUBS Alumni run that will help the disabled girl child get university education” Kiprotich who won the 2010 Olympic Gold medal in the marathon noted.

This annual run (5 KM and 10 KM) will be held on Sunday, 20th March 2022.

The Deputy Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among is also expected to grace the run.

The main theme of this run is; “to enable Women with disability get university education” as all collections from this run will be geared towards this noble cause.

Tickets cost Shs. 20,000/= (each) and can be accessed at the MUBS Main campus in Nakawa as well as the auxiliary campuses in Jinja, Arua and Mbale cities.

The main sponsors and partners for this run include Shire Petroleum, Subterra, Katumwa Sports Center, Pepsi, Gateway Bus, Naya Stores and others.
