In football finale, Katabi - Kitubulu overcame Kiggungu 3-2 in post-match penalties after normal time had ended one-goal apiece. During the netball final, Katabi - Kitubulu was also triumphant, winning 11-05 over the Seven Eagles from Bugonga village. (Seven Eagles) at the Works Playground in Entebbe town.

The sports (football and netball) tournament organized by Entebbe Municipality Member of Parliament Hon Michael “Mbwatekamwa” Kakembo officially climaxed at the historic Works playground in Entebbe Division A on Saturday, 31st December 2022.

Katabi – Kitubulu village emerged victorious in both the football and netball competitions that attracted 19 villages with the two divisions from Entebbe Municipality (A and B).

In football finale, Katabi – Kitubulu overcame Kiggungu 3-2 in post-match penalties after normal time had ended one-goal apiece.

Sulaiman “Pato” Mutebi gave Katabi – Kitubulu the early lead before Kiggungu equalized through a well struck penalty by captain Ashraf Neymar heading to the mandatory half-time break.

In the post-match penalty, Katabi – Kitubulu won 3-2 with goalkeeper Isma Maganda the hero.

Maganda, a goalkeeper at Proline Football Club saved once from Geofrey Muwaya before Carols Lubega blasted the ball wide.

Brian Enzama, Arafat Dafala and towering Dan Chan scored for the triumphant Katabi-Kitubulu village.

Kiggungu’s two penalties were scored by Baker Buyala and Allan Tebusweke.

“We were composed when taking penalties. I thank all my teammates for the collective team effort. We have been clinical via penalties right from the quarter final stage. I thank the leaders of our team and the organizers of this tournament” Maganda who was carried shoulder high by ecstatic fans revealed.

Besides the glittering trophy, Katabi – Kitubulu was also rewarded with giant Bull, gold medals, set of jerseys and a ball.

The runners-up (Kiggungu) received a He-Goat, Silver medals, set of jerseys and a ball.

Lunyo Central finished third in the football tournament to take bronze medals, a He-Goat and a ball.

During the netball final, Katabi – Kitubulu was also triumphant, winning 11-05 over the Seven Eagles from Bugonga village. (Seven Eagles).

Katabi-Kitubulu netball team was rewarded with a trophy, He-Goat and set of netball kit.

The main organizer, legislator Kakembo lauded all the players and area leaders from the 19 villages in both Division A (13) and B (6), promising an even more vibrant championship in 2023.

Flanked by the Deputy Mayor Entebbe Municipality Hon. Charles Kabwama, Division B speaker Phiona Namutebi and other area leaders, Hon Kakembo urged the youth to remain focused with good training, diety, disciplined and enough rest.

He also urged them to safe guard against the scourge of HIV/AIDS.

I am very impressed by the turn up of the Entebbe people in the Hon. Michael Kakembo sports tournament. This is a platform to identify and develop talented sportsmen. Sports today is a lucrative business that can turn around lives of many in families and communities. I therefore encourage you to maintain the training, have the right diety and get enough rest. You also need to safe guard against HIV/AIDS which is a serious killer today.

More sports disciplines as boxing, running, ludo and other events will be added for the 2023 edition.
