Christine Namulumba Kago

Besides playing Netball, Christine Namulumba Kago is also keen in learning Basketball, just like Peace her role model who juggled various sports.

Prisons Netball player Christine Namulumba Kago currently ranks among the country’s top shooters and goal-attackers.

Standing at 6 feet plus, Namulumba is aggressive, accurate, confident, humble and diligent.

She vividly attests that her bold journey in the sport is attributed to the She Cranes’ captain Peace Proscovia, currently plying her professional trade in the United Kingdom.

I have always admired Peace Proscovia. From the way she trains, conducts herself on and off the court to the actual playing, she inspired me to play Netball and I want to emulate her as I mature and develop into a professional netballer.

Namulumba was born on 3rd April 2000 to Moses Kago and Elizabeth Namugolya in Iganga town, Eastern Uganda.

Education:

Namulumba commenced her elementary education at Bubaka Primary School, Iganga for P.1 to P.2 classes.

She then moved to Mawagala Primary School, Iganga (P.3-P.4), Faith Primary School, Iganga (P.5) and completed her Primary Leaving Examinations at Africa Standard Academy, Iganga (P.6-P.7).

For secondary education, Namulumba was admitted at Savanah High School, Iganga (S.1-S.2) before she was given an educational bursary at Nsangi based Madinah Islamic School, Nsangi (S.3-S.4).

For the advanced level of education, Namulumba was admitted to Buddo S.S (S.5-S.6).

Currently, she is at Victoria University in the first year of education (opening semester), pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management.

Netball Debut Journey:

Namulumba commenced her netball journey in 2017 as she was crossing over to Madinah Islamic.

She is a member of Prisons Netball Club, plying in the Uganda Netball Super League division, playing as a shooter and an attacker

“I have dedicated a lot of time in training to improve in many aspects of the game because I believe that learning never ends” she attests.

Peace Proscovia

Her role model as aforementioned is the Uganda She Cranes captain Peace Proscovia.

Her toughestopponent is National Insurance Corporation (NIC) defender Joan Nampungu.

Namulumba in the Prisons match against KCCA

Namulumba vividly recalls that physical duel in the national league between Prisons and KCCA as her best match.

“The match between Prisons and KCCA remains my best match so far. Although we (Prisons) lost the game, It was one game that I gave the KCCA defenders a run of their money. In fact, they had to substitute them as the game grew tense” she recalls.

Besides Netball, Namulumba is also keen in learning Basketball, just like Peace her role model who juggled various sports.

Her favorite dish is Posho, Rice, Chicken with mango Juice with the Infinix phone as her best cell phone.

She aspires to play professional netball in the United Kingdom for some of the leading clubs.

Namulumba was recently rewarded by the Real Stars Sports Agency as the best netball player for the month of December 2022.
