The Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) 12 and Under tournament will be hosted on Saturday, 28th January 2023 at Buganda Road Primary School in Kampala city. At least Shs 2,000,000 will be won in school-fees by the outstanding players.

The Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) will hold the first season opening tournament on Saturday, 28th January 2023 at Buganda Road Primary school in Kampala city.

This will be the 12 years and Under championship, the first calendar competition for the virgin year.

At least Shs 2,000,000 will be won by the outstanding players in either gender to carter for school fees as the first term of the new academic year comes knocking in February 2023.

“There is school fees of up to 2 million Ugx to be won by players who emerge as winners or runner ups in the boys and girls categories separately. Each winner and runner up will earn 500,000 Ugx in school fees contribution paid as cash directly to the parent.” Robert Jjagwe, the president of Uganda Table Tennis Association remarks.

Jjagwe hints at the gender equity element that is fronted by the association.

“UTTA prides itself in treating males and females equally at all its competitions.” He adds.

In December 2022, Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) supported up to six clubs with free Table Tennis (TT) equipment to train in the new TTX / Spinless TT.

Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) is crowning it all with a competition to thank the parents for supporting their children to learn the Table Tennis sport during the holiday. Every Holiday, we intend to have this competition and also make it bigger. We encourage parents to enroll their children into Table Tennis to start training early for the next version of this TTX School Fees Championship next Holiday.

After the season opener, focus will turn to the prestigious Mbale Open at the onset of February (2nd to 4th) in Mbale city.

The UTTA Executive board recently announced an increment for the total prize money to Shs 1,600,000.

The winner for the Mbale Open in the senior category will pocket Shs 400,000 as the runners up will take Shs 200,000.

The losing semifinalists will take 100,000.

Table Tennis is one of the games that has been wholesomely embraced by teenagers.
