Uganda Cup holders BUL FC began their title defence on an impressive note, knocking out Sparks FC on Monday.

In the round of 64 fixture played at Kirondo Playground in Mukono, BUL had to dig deep to overcome the resilient hosts.

Defender Hillary Onek scored the lone goal of the game, coming at the start of the second half.

Onek made a good run on the right wing to tap home a well-delivered cross from Douglas Muganga.

The goal eventually turned out to be the decisive moment of the game despite Sparks making attempts in the closing stages.

It should be noted that BUK FC won the Uganda Cup last year, defeating Vipers SC in Masindi.

The Jinja-based side will not wait for the round of 32 draws to know their next opponent.
