The final Gazelles roster of twelve players to represent the country at the FIBA Africa Zone V Women’s AfroBasket Qualifiers has been revealed.

The coaching staff made the reveal of the team after Monday evening’s Tournament Technical Meeting held at Onomo Hotel, Nakasero.

Youngster Sheila Lamunu and KCCA forward Leticia Awor make the roster along with Evelyn Nakiyingi, Bridget Aber, Jannon Otto, Maria Najjuma, and Shakira Nanvubya all of whom will be making debuts for the senior side.

Vet Flavia Oketcho will lead the team with her experience. Shooting guard Ritah Imanishimwe and power forward Hope Akello are the other players with considerable experience.

The most notable omission is JT Jaguars’ wing Zainah Lokwameri. UCU Lady Canons small forward Agatha Kamwada and KIU Rangers shooting guard Perus Nyamwenge are the other two that have been dropped.

The Gazelles will face Kenya in the opening game on Tuesday evening when the tournament whose winner books a ticket to the continental showpiece.
