Following a disastrous outing on their Caf Champions League debut away to Raja Casablanca, Vipers return to action at home on Saturday aiming to make amends when they host Guinea’s AC Horoya.
This will be the Venoms’ first home game in the group stages and both Captain Milton Karisa and his coach Bianchi Beto understand how important it is to bounce back from a humiliating 5-0 defeat.
“We want to go out tomorrow and make our fans proud. I’m sure it was hard for them to watch us against Raja. So, tomorrow we must make amends and give them something to cheer about,” Karisa told the press conference.
For Bianchi, moving on fast from the debacle in Morocco should be the aim now.
“It doesn’t help us to keep thinking of what has already happened, because we still have five games to play in the group stages, so the focus should be on getting the best results possible,” said Bianchi.
“We have worked well; I have seen better reaction from the players during training. The intensity is good and I am confident that our preparations give us an advantage against Horoya Athletic Club.”
Yunus Sentamu is expected to lead the line after coming off the bench in the last outing but winger Lumala Abdu is doubtful after he suffered a knock that kept him out of the Uganda Cup game against Jinja North United.
Bianchi’s biggest worry will be the lack of goals as his side have never scored since he took over from Brazilian Roberto Oliviera.
