The third round of the 2023 Magical Kenya Golf Open was completed on Saturday, March 11 at Muthaiga golf course.

Spaniard Jorge Campillo is the leader of the 79 golfers who made the treasured cut after round two.

Campillo played 8-under 63 during the third round to better his earlier rounds of 2-under 69 and 3-under 68 during the first and second rounds respectively.

He scored 8 birdies on holes 3, 9, 11, 15, 16, 17 and 8 with an eagle on par 5 hole 2.

For the rest of the holes, he registered par scores (1,2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14).

Elvira Nacho, another professional from Spain who had led day two slipped to joint 12th with 2-over 73 after 67, 65 for the first two rounds.

Kenya’s young professional Muthai Kibugu slipped to joint 44th after a level par score during round three.

Kibugu had also scored the same score (71) during round two after an opening 3-under 68 on day one.

Round four and the final day of the competition of the championship that is also on the European tour will take place on Sunday, 12th March 2023 on the total kitty of €1,750,000 (at least UGX 6,857,284,721.00.

A total of 156 golfers including Uganda’s professional Ronald Rugumayo took part in the championship that is marking 54 editions.

The tournament was officially launched by Hon Ababu Namwamba, the Kenyan cabinet secretary Youth Affairs- sports and the arts where Absa Kenya announced a Ksh 70,000,000 sponsorship.
