The 2023 World Lacrosse championships will be hosted in San Diego city, United States of America (USA) between 21st June to 1st July. 30 countries will take part in the competition.

2023 World Lacrosse Championships (21st June – 1st July)

Uganda Lacrosse Association (ULA) in conjunction with the head coach Patrick Oriana announced the 26-man team for the senior men world championships due in San Diego, United States of America (USA).

The team of 26 has 23 players and 3 traveling alternates.

We do particularly acknowledge and appreciate the sacrifice of those not selected and all previous squad members who have played an important part in the preparation of this team.All the best to our senior men’s national team.

Uganda Lacrosse Association (ULA) Statement

The team has three goalkeepers; Andrew Asimwe, Allan Amone and Daniel Otimu.

There are five defenders to include Innocent Anyala, Shaban Pitta, Benard Otim, Damson Lyaleng and a rookie, Phillips Max.

Chris Palanda and Micheal Ochan are the two long speed midfielders while the trio of Solomon Adiyo, Francis Odong and Martin Komakech are all defensive midfielders.

The other midfielders include; Roger Anywar, Keith Lubangakene, Owen Waluku, John Brian Mukaga, George Ogik (of Westcliff University in California), Yosef Ngowe, Paul Mbusa, Edward Komakech and Aaron Lyaleng.

The attack line will be led by Swaibu Meliga, Benjamin Ojok, Faisal Nsubuga and Finn Phillips.

Uganda Lacrosse national team players after qualification for the World Championships

For starters, Uganda defeated rivals Kenya 9-8 at the Kenton College Preparatory School in Nairobi city to secure a berth at the 2023 World Lacrosse Championship in San Diego, United States of America (USA).

Thirty (30) countries will take place in this tournament with hosts United States of America (USA), Canada, Haudenosaunee, Australia, England, Japan, Israel, Germany, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Italy, Latvia, Switzerland, Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, Czech Republic, Poland, France, Denmark, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Mexico, Peru, Philippines, New Zealand, Hong Kong – China, Korea and Africa’s only representative, Uganda.
