Recently-crowned Central Region women’s champions Black Pearls will play a friendly match against Kenya Cup finalists Impala Roans on Saturday.

Black Pearls defended their Central Region title when they won the 2023 championship unbeaten. They are also the current national XVs and Sevens champions.

Coach-player Helen Koyokoyo Buteme believes this is an opportunity for her squad’s further development against new opposition.

“Big one this! Time to test ourselves against tougher opponents. Can’t wait to see how my gems measure up against one of Kenya’s best teams,” Buteme tweeted on Wednesday.

There has been positive reception from Uganda and across the border as well. The friendly match, if successful, could revive the glory days of cross-border tournaments between clubs and franchises in Uganda.

The match will be played at 2 p.m. local time at Impala Grounds before the Enterprise Cup kicks off.
