Overview:
In Northern region, the tour will see the NCS leaders traverse the district of Gulu, Lira, Oyam, Otuke, Alebtong, Dokolo, Apac and will tour the Pece Memorial stadium on Monday, March 27, 2023.
The National Council of Sports (NCS) has embarked on a vigorous tour of sport facilities in Northern and Eastern Uganda between 27th and 31st March 2023.
This tour will entail meetings with high profile political leaders in these regions according to a program authorized by the general secretary, National Council of Sports Dr Bernard Patrick Ogwel.
The officials from NCS are led by the chairperson, Ambrose Tashobya.

In Northern region, the tour will see the NCS leaders traverse the district of Gulu, Lira, Oyam, Otuke, Alebtong, Dokolo, Apac and will tour the Pece Memorial stadium on Monday, March 27, 2023.
They will then hold meetings with the Resident District Commissioners (RDCs), CAOs, Gulu city mayor, LCvs of Kitgum and neighboring districts.


On Tuesday, March 28, 2023, the group will proceed to Soroti and tour the Soroti sports grounds, Oligol stadium, Sorot University.
They will then hold meetings with RDCs, CAOs, City Mayor, LC DSO, DEO, DIS, chairpersons from Soroti, Kumi, Bukedea, Ngora, Serere, Pallisa and Katakwi.
On Wednesday, 29th March 2023, the team will head to Kapchorwa, the home of long distance athletes in Uganda
They will tour the high altitude training centre and the Joshua Cheptegei sports facility.

They will hold meetings with RDCs, CAOs, LCvs, DSO, DEO, DIS from Kapchorwa, Bukwo and Kween.
On the same day, they will return to Mbale city and tour the Mbale stadium.
They will also hold meetings with RDCs, CAOs, LCVs, Mayors, DEOs, DIS from the districts of Mbale,
Manafwa, Namisindwa, Sironko, Budaka, Buteleja, Bulambuli, before traveling to Tororo.
In Tororo, they will tour the famous King Georg VI memorial stadium and hold meetings with leaders from Tororo, Bulisa ON Thursday, 30th March 2023.
On Friday, 31st March 2023, the group will come to Jinja city and visit the Bugembe Stadium, Kakindu stadiuim as well as the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
They will held meetings with RDCs, CAOs, Jinja City Mayor, LCV chairpersons of Iganga, Kaliro, Luuka, Kamuli, Buyende, Namutumba, Bukaka, DSO, MSO and the district sports association members.
This will be the final stop before return to Kampala.
The purpose of these tours is to ascertain the current state of these facilities, plan for their wellbeing and seek for long-term solutions.
The planned meetings with political leaders are intended to seek opinions and workable ideas on how best to develop the sports sub-sector.
