Buddo Secondary School has qualified for the final of the 2023 Wakiso region schools’ football championships.
The confirmation followed a hard-fought 5-3 post match victory over Standard High School Zzana during the first semi-final at St Mary’s College Kisubi playground on Friday, March 31, 2023.
Normal time of this end-to-end duel ended goal-less before a mammoth lively crowd.
Buddo S.S goalkeeper Ismail Yiga with a save during the tense and dramatic shoot-out.
Yiga dived to his right to save Moses Lutete’s weak shot.
Dennis Kisiriko, Musa Ibrahim, Yusuf “Hajji” Ssebumpenje, Hakim Kawuki and Edgar Kiggundu scored the penalties for Buddo S.S past goalkeeper Rickson Gubya.
Ahmed, David Mwebaze and Amuza Atakagira scored Standard High Zzana’s only three penalties.
In the second semi-final, St Mary’s Kitende beat Kawempe Royal College – Bulaga 4-1 during post match penalties after normal time had ended 1-all.
(Kawempe Royal College – Bulaga led 1-0 by half-way break through Ali Wasswa’s opener.
The grand finale will be played on Saturday, 1st April 2023 at the Kabaka Kyabbagu stadium.
Six slots are up for grabs at the national championships in Fort Portal city come May 2023.
