Kawempe Muslim put an end to Kampala Queens’ ambitions of winning a domestic double this season.
With the FUFA Women Super League title wrapped last weekend, Kampala Queens shifted attention to FUFA Women’s Cup, aiming to become the first team to achieve the feat.
However, their aspirations were vanquished after a heavy defeat to Kawempe Muslim on Sunday in Kabojja.
The Valley Warriors put up a remarkable performance to secure a 5-1 win and storm the semifinals.
It should be noted that Kampala Queens had gone 35 games unbeaten in all competitions and coincidentally, the last team to beat them on 8th February 2022 was Kawempe Muslim.
Kawempe Muslim who have been under the process of rebuilding seem to have found the groove since the start of the year.
The team is unbeaten in eight games now, winning seven and drawing just once.
In Kabojja, Phiona Nabulime opened the scores in the 12th minute to give the visitors a perfect start.
Defender Lukiya Namubiru found the equalizer moments later and the scoreboard read 1-1 at the break.
Kawempe returned recharged after recess, catching the home side at sixes and sevens.
Agnes Nabukenya, Shakirah Nyinagahirwa, Allen Nassazi and Aisha Nantongo (penalty) all got onto the score sheet in the rout.
The win means Kawempe Muslim storm the semifinals where they will face either holders Makerere University or Uganda Martyrs who face off later today.
She Maroons were the first team to reach the semifinals after eliminating inaugural winners Olila High School on Saturday.
The other semifinal to be played on Sunday will see non-league side St. Noa take on Asubo Gafford Ladies.
