Pools for the second circuit of the Nile Special 7s Series 2023 have been confirmed by Uganda Rugby Union (URU).
Kitgum Lions (men) and Queens (women), who will be playing at home during the Kitgum 7s, are in pools B and A respectively.
Men’s Pools for Kitgum 7s:
- Pool A: Pirates, Buffaloes, Warriors, Black Arrows.
- Pool B: Kobs, Walukuba, Kitgum Lions, Gulu City Falcons.
- Pool C: Heathens, Rhinos, Rams, Nile Leopards.
- Pool D: Impis, Hippos, Mongers, Lira Bulls.
The Lions have Stone City 7s finalists Kobs, Walukuba Barbarians, and Northern region rivals Gulu City Falcons for company in Pool B.
Current leaders Pirates will take on Buffaloes, Warriors, and Black Arrows in Pool A. Series holders Hippos are in Pool D alongside Impis, Mongers, and Lira Bulls while the series’ most successful team Heathens are in Pool C with Rhinos, Rams, and Nile Leopards.
Women’s Pools for Kitgum 7s:
- Pool A: Avengers, Nile Rapids, Kitgum Queens.
- Pool B: Thunderbirds, Black Pearls, Nile Leopardesses.
For this circuit, and all other upcountry circuits, players in training with the women’s sevens national team will feature for their respective clubs.
Hosts Queens are in Pool A alongside Avengers and Nile Rapids while current holders Black Pearls are in Pool B with Thunderbirds and Nile Leopardesses.
