Industrious left back Richard Ayiko has joined FUFA Big League entity Lugazi Football Club on a short term move.

Ayiko has been a free agent since he was released by top tier side BUL Football Club at the end of the first round for the 2023-2024 football season.

He brings experience to the second division side that harbors ambitions of being promoted to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

Ayiko is naturally a left back but can be deployed as a center half.

He had previously featured at Maroons, KCCA, Onduparaka and lately BUL in his football journey.

Other clubs that had expressed interest to secure his services were Express, Sports Club Villa and Mbale Heroes.

At Lugazi Football Club, he simply returns home having been born and bred from the sugarcane growing hub of Lugazi town.

A few days ago, the club had also officially announced the capture of former Sports Club Villa midfielder Ali Arshavin Bayo.
