The national referees and those in Wakiso district successfully undertook their mandatory physical fitness and endurance tests at the Works playground in Entebbe Municipality.
A total of 69 referees were engaged in the different drills that included sprints (Top speed in 30 metres in given seconds), Change of Direction Agility (CODA) and the Assistant Referee Intermediate Endurance Test (A.R.I.E.T).


The assessment was closely supervised by fitness instructors Ali Kalyango and Samuel Kayondo with David Davis Katabira, assessing the 17 national referees within Buganda region.
The other national referees from Buganda region had completed their physical fitness tests at Makerere University with the Elite referees.
Farouk Kigongo (Chairman, Buganda Region Football Referees Association), Ssewaya Miti (Treasurer, Buganda Region Football Referees Association), Ronald Mbowa (Wakiso district referees’ chairman) and Harunah Kyobe (Secretary, Wakiso District football association) also witnessed the grueling drills.

The referees were tipped on diligence, integrity, loyalty and commitment towards their work.
“I thank the referees for having completed the physical fitness exercises which are mandatory. I urge the referees to remain loyal, determined, hard-working, disciplined, committed and with full integrity at all times” Kigongo appealed.
The new badge for Buganda Region Football Referees was also officially launched.
Buganda Region has one official (assistant referee Brianson Musisi) with the international badge.
Meanwhile, other physical tests will be conducted in the rest of Buganda region in Mukono, Kassanda, Bukalasa and Masaka.
