Uganda U17 Women’s National Football Team defied odds to dump out Giants Cameroon from the 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Qualfiiers.

The Teen Cranes stunned their counterparts with a 3-1 victory at Stade Militaire in Yaoundé to advance to the next stage 4-2 on aggregate.

It should be noted that the first leg played last week at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende ended in a one-all draw.

Uganda started like a house of fire and made several inroads around the Cameroon goal.

The pressure eventually paid off dividends in the 23rd minute when pacy winger Sylvia Kabene capitalized on a goalkeeping howler to fire Uganda into the lead.

Two minutes later Esther Nangendo doubled Uganda’s lead, scoring direct from a corner kick.

Despite efforts from Cameroon to stage a comeback, Uganda remained resolute and defended relentlessly.

Cameroon pulled one goal back in the first minute of added time but Agnes Nabukenya was able to restore the two goal cushion, scoring direct from a free kick.

The result means Uganda will face either Tanzania or Zambia at the third qualifying round.
