Express Football Club advanced to the round of 32 at the 50th Stanbic Uganda Cup

Express Football Club confirmed their slot in the 50th Stanbic Cup round of 32 on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

This followed a hard-fought 1-0 win on the road over North Eastern regional side, MYDA at the intimidating Kongunga playground in Bukedea district.

Following a goalless stalemate in the opening stanza, the game was lit with the goal with 23 minutes left on the clock.

Manisoor Safi’s tempting free-kick was diverted home by under fire MYDA defender Innocent Opira as the visiting players and handful of fans celebrated.

Now, Alex Isabirye’s Express march to the round of 32 as they play host to Rwenzori Lions on Saturday, 17th February 2024 at the Mutesa II Wankulukuku stadium in Kabowa.

Meanwhile, BUL Football Club also made the grade to the round of 32 after out-smarting Buganda regional side Simba 3-0 at the Namulonge playground.

A combination of goals from midfielder Ibrahim Kazindula, defender Walter Ochora and forward Alex “Benzema” Kitata won the day for Abbey Bogere Kikomeko’s coached side.

BUL will now take on Kyambura Rasters in Rubirizi district this Sunday, 18th February 2024 during the round of 32 duel.

Vipers is the current cup holders of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after defeating Police in last season’s final played at the Akii Bua playground in Lira city.

Police make the trip to Iganga to face Eastern regional side Busei United during the round of 32 on Thursday, 15th February 2024.

The Stanbic Uganda Cup winner is assured of a slot to the CAF Confederation Cup.

Since inception of this knock out tournament in 1971, the championship has grown in popularity, magnitude and stature.

The tournament is played by clubs from all corners of the country, in varying divisions.
