Wanderers were made to work very hard for their winning points at the Lakeside Oval in Entebbe by Patidar.

In a game that had a combined 129 runs on a very difficult wicket, Wanderers paceman Mohammed Shaf picked up 7/27 to skittle out Patidar for just 63 inside 25 overs. All his wickets were bowled, a sign that his fire bowling full was unplayable.

Mohammed Shaf (in front) had a seven-wicket haul

In contrast, without any pace of their own, Patidar optimally used their spinners to cause Wanderers problems. At 25/5, the Wanderers’ tail was exposed but a rare guard resistance dragged the game to the end with the winning runs coming from the last batters as Wanderers earned their first points of the season.

Wanderers will need a better performance if they are going to challenge for the title.

Nyakasura went top of the Premiership table with a six-wicket win over Tornado Bee at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.

Anas Baig (47) was the lone ranger for the former champions but their 150 was not enough in the contest. Ahura Amos (32) and Fortunate Alijuna (60) were the stars with the bat for the youthful side.

The win takes Nyakasura to the top of the table ahead of Ceylon Lions because of a better Net Run Rate with both sides tied on points.

In the championship, Rounders journey from Jinja to Kampala was not in vain as they collected all winning points in Budo against Premier.

The two wins, both empathetic, even with rain affecting the morning game push Rounders close to the top and in touch with leaders Soroti City.

Rounders have put together a great side with some serious talent from Jinja. U-19 youngsters Pius Oloka, and Jonathan Nyiro are the new additions alongside Tembo Arnold and Mwesigwa Daudi who bring the experience from Wanderers and ACC respectively.

Two sides gain promotion from the Championship (Division 2) to the top flight at the end of the season and Rounders have put together a great side to challenge for a promotion place.
