The highly anticipated Wakiso derby between Wakiso Giants and Vipers SC will be hosted at St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende.
The announcement was revealed by the UPL secretariat on Saturday as they released fixtures for match day 20.
Vipers hosted the reverse fixture in the first round and were expected to trek to Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium to face the Purple Sharks.
“The UPL Secretariat received a letter from Wakiso Giants FC requesting to change the venue for their match against Vipers SC..,” read a statement.
“This is for Wakiso Giants FC to tap in the revenue generated at Vipers SC matches played at Kitende as well as the big numbers of fans that are associated with Night matches.
“Accordingly, M#155 Wakiso Giants FC Vs Vipers SC venue has been moved from Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium-Wakiso to St. Mary’s Stadium-Kitende (6:00pm).”
In the reverse fixture, Viper SC beat the Purple Sharks 3-0 with Yunus Sentamu scoring a brace.
Sula Kamoga, the Wakiso Giants CEO elaborated – “the request was made before the season started as we have always wanted to have some of our games played at night so as to tap on the revenues that can be got from such games.”
The match will be played on Sunday March 10 with either side looking to bounce back from winless outings as Vipers drew 1-1 with Bright Stars while Wakiso Giants lost 1-0 to Kitara.
