Women’s top seed in the World Rugby HSBC 7s Challenger 2024, China, have beaten Uganda, 26-10, in the Cup Semifinals of the Montevideo round.
China were simply too good for Uganda although the latter attempted a second half comeback.
Uganda scored two tries in the match through Lydia Namabiro and Peace Lekuru.
From 45-05 in Dubai to 26-10 in Montevideo is manifestation of positive progress that Uganda Women have achieved since making their 7s Challenger debut this year.
Despite the loss – second of the weekend in Montevideo, Uganda are still on track to better their fourth-place finish during the first round in Dubai.
They will play for the bronze medal against Belgium at 12.15 a.m. on Sunday. Uganda have beaten and lost to Belgium in the two meetings during this competition so far.
