Uganda’s female badminton pair of Husinah Kobugabe and Gladys Mbabazi have qualified for the final of the women’s doubles at the ongoing 13th African Games in Accra City, Ghana.
Kobugabe and Mbabazi joined forces to overcome the Egyptian pair of Ahmed Youssri and Hany Doha 2-0 in a game that lasted only 23 minutes.
The Ugandan duo triumphed 21-14 during the opening set under 13 minutes.

The second set was quicker, ending in 10 minutes with the Ugandans triumphing 21-14; well cheered by a delegation of officials from the national parliament (Members of Parliament) and those from National Council of Sports (NCS) led by the chairperson Ambrose Tashobya and general secretary Dr. Bernard Patrick Ogwel.
The officials cheered every point scored by Mbabazi and Kobugabe from start to finish, with awesome team chemistry covering the fore and back courts with perfection.
“We eye the final with determination. We shall carry the same energy to the finals,” Mbabazi revealed after the match.

This is the second final that Uganda will play after Kobugabe’s 2-0 win over Nigerian Dorcas Ajoke Adesokan in the women’s singles semifinals.
Kobugabe posted 21-07 and 21-19 to book a berth in the final against South Africa’s Johanita Scholtz.
Scholtz defeated another Ugandan Mohammed Rafi Shamika Fadilah 2-0 (21-12 and 21-10) in the other singles’ semi-final.
