It is a win or bust situation for the Uganda handball women national team at the 13th African Games in Ghana.
Uganda takes on the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on Saturday, 16th March 2024 at the Dome Arena (Bortyman sports complex) in Accra city.

This fixture comes barely 48 hours after that bitter 38-27 loss to Cameroon at the same arena.
Uganda’s head coach Azizi Yakoub anticipates a far better performance from the first outing.
“I expect an improved performance in the second game when we take on the Democratic Republic of Congo than during the first one we lost to Cameroon. There is a lot we shall improve especially movements, defending and attacking” Yakoub revealed.
Uganda will need an overhaul from the display on match day one.
Defensively, a lot of lectures ought to be given to the defenders and the goalkeeper.
The same could be same of the offensive players, to kill off the game by converting every chance created.
Players as Diana Tiperu (Uganda’s top scorer against Cameroon), crowd darling Lillian Achola, the sweet left hander Jesca “Mulongo” Nakamanya, Diana Nakamya, Patience Damulira, Shakirah Bako Agarile and Kibuli S.S student Priscillah Aber will need to better their performances than on match day one.
A win for Uganda will bring the team back in contention ahead of the last group duel against Mali on Monday, 18th March 2024.
Anything short of a win for Yakoub’s side will definitely spell doom and cast worry lines on faces of many.
