Uganda female handball player in action

The hunt for more medals by Ugandans at the ongoing African Games continues on Monday with different athletes in action.

Track and Field events where Uganda usually excels start on Monday at University of Ghana Stadium with some being heats.

The Uganda Women’s U20 Football Team and Uganda Women’s Handball Team have chance to continue the chase for glory while the Cricket Cranes will hope to keep their fire burning.

Athletics

Women’s 100m Heats

The day for Uganda will begin with Jacent Nyamuhange taking to the field in the 100m heats.

She will race at 12:50PM EAT in heat 2, lane 3. The same heat has Madina Toure (Burkina Faso), Benedicta Kwartema (Ghana), Bass Bittaye Gina Mariam (The Gambia), Marie Amelie Anthony (Mauritius), Ahmed Baytula Aliye (Ethiopia), Maia Alyse Mccoy(Liberia) and Safiatou Acquaviva Emerson (Guinea).

Men’s 100m Heats (1:20PM EAT)

Benson Okot and Pius Adome will be in the heats for 100m.

Adome and Okot will race in heat 1 and 2 respectively.

Men’s 400m Heats

Aaron Adoli – 7PM (EAT)

Women’s 800m Semis (8:50PM)

Halima Nakaayi and US-based Susan Aneno will be competing for a slot in the final.

Basketball 3X3 (Men)

Uganda pooled in Group C will play two games on Monday, the first against Togo at 7PM (EAT) and then end the day with a fixture against Democratic Republic of Congo at 9:30PM (EAT).

Boxing

Men’s 57kg Quartefinals- Kassim Murungi vs Omar Abdul (Ghana) – 10:45PM EAT.

Men’s 71kg Quarterfinals – Muzamir Ssemuddu vs Henry Malm (Ghana) – 12:30AM EAT

Men’s Cricket

After a perfect start to the tournament with victory over Kenya on Sunday,the Cricket Cranes will return to action today against hosts Ghana who terribly lost to South Africa.

The game will be played at 4:50PM at Achimota Cricket Oval.

Women’s Football – 8PM EAT

Uganda U20 Women’s National Football Team will take on Nigeria in the semifinals at Cape Coast Stadium.

Women’s Handball – 3PM EAT

Uganda Women’s Handball Team must win with a good margin against Mali to stand a chance of progressing to the semifinals.

They will also need Cameroon to defeat Democratic Republic of Congo who have three points while Uganda has one.
