Uganda and Tunisia met at the African Games after winning their respective matches in the first round. Uganda had beaten Zimbabwe by 14-00 points and Tunisia had beaten Benin by 34-00 points.

With the tournament being played in a round-robin format, points difference will be crucial in determining the final rankings. So both teams needed to not only win but do so with a big margin.

The match started on a slow tempo for two minutes before play was momentarily halted to attend to a Tunisian player involved in a dangerous collision.

When it resumed, Uganda scored four tries in the first half through Adrian Kasito (2), Philip Wokorach, and Aaron Ofoyrwoth. Wokorach converted three for Uganda to take a comfortable 26-00 lead into halftime.

Uganda maintained the momentum in the second half. They added another four tries courtesy of Timothy Kisiga, Nobert Okeny (2), and Desire Ayera. Kisiga converted one try.

The full-time whistle was blown when Uganda had reached the half-century mark of unanswered points.

After Day One’s matches, Uganda is top of the standings in the men’s competition. They will play against Burkina Faso and Ghana on Day Two.
