Uganda Men faced their toughest challenge thus far in the African Games 2023 Rugby 7s when they faced Burkina Faso during the third round.

Despite scoring two quick tries through Nobert Okeny and Denis Etwau, the West Africans were a tough nut for Uganda to crack. Burkina Faso, who beat Kenya in the first round, came from behind to lead by 14-12 at half-time.

Uganda needed to dig deep in the second half to overcome an inspired Burkina Faso side. Aaron Ofoyrwoth and Okeny touched down for Uganda to win by 24-14 points. The score did not reflect the true story of the match where Burkina Faso could have pulled off another upset.

Uganda missed the services of Adrian Kasito who suffered an ankle injury against Tunisia on Day One. He will still be out when they face Ghana in the fourth round but is expected to return on the final day.
