Mohammad Nigo won two medals at the 2024 Egypt Para Powerlifting World Championships

Uganda’s Muhammad Nigo won two medals during the on-going 2024 world power-lifting championship at the Sharm El Sheikh city in Egypt on Wednesday.

Nigo, featuring in the 80 kg category lifted a total of 135 kgs during the legends cluster. 

Meanwhile, Tamale Safalu managed to lift 140 kgs and 148kg. However, he failed on his last attempt of 152 kgs.

Uganda’s team in Egypt is captained by Denis Mbazira. The other players on the team include; Muhammad Nigo (80 kg), Safalu Tamale (80 kg), Baabu Baabumba and Rebecca Zawedde.

Mbaziira, Baabumba and Zawedde will all compete over the weekend.

Head coach Kenneth Sekilanda has high hopes in the athletes who traveled for the competition.

“We had a good start on Wednesday with Mohammad Nigo and Safalu competiting well. The other athletes will also come into action over the weekend and I expect them to do better” Sekilanda stated.
