- NEC 1-4 SC Villa
Charles Lwanga scored a brace as SC Villa sealed a double over NEC in a 4-1 win that also ended the hosts’ nineteen match unbeaten streak.
The embattled forward who will most likely leave Villa after contract talks failed got a rare start as Zeljko Kovacevic made ten changes from the eleven that beat URA 1-0 in the Uganda Cup semis.
Lwanga got the opener in the 10th minute beating Hannington Ssebwalunyo who had gone over ten league matches without conceding.
He added his and Villa’s second eight minutes later and Geoffrey Gaganga extended the lead in the 35th minute.
In the second half, Kovacevic made some changes and Hassan Mubiru put the icing on the cake with a fourth on the day in the 87th minute.
By then, Villa were a man down after Farouk Matovu was sent off in the 82nd minute for a second bookable offence.
Emmanuel Kulanga pulled one back for the hosts who stay 6th with 48 points although they remain with a game in hand.
Villa are now in 3rd place with 58 points with one round of matches to play and will host UPDF in their last encounter in the league.
NEC will seal the season with a long trip to Midigo where already relegated Calvary are lurking.
