Thursday was quite a successful day for Uganda at the 13th African Games, bagging two gold medals (both from Rugby) and two bronze medals (Women’s Football and Boxing).
There is hope that the medal tally could even grow bigger on Friday as several athletes and teams compete in different sports disciplines.
Here is a complete guide on the Ugandans in action today.
Athletics – University of Ghana Stadium
Women’s 1500m Final – 8:35PM EAT
Knight Aciru and Halima Nakaayi will compete in the 1500m final. The latter will be looking to earn her second medal after getting silver in the 800m final.
Men’s 1500m Final – 8:50PM EAT
Ronald Musagala eased through the semifinals yesterday to reach the final. He will be eyeing a medal today.
Women’s 4X400m Final – 11:15PM EAT
Uganda has a team in the final of the 4X400m final and will compete against Nigeria, Botswana, Congo Brazzaville, Namibia, Kenya, Ethiopia and Zambia.
Basketball 3X3 – Legon Netball Court
The Uganda Men’s Team edged Madagascar 20-18 in the quarterfinals and will face Algeria in the semifinals today at 8PM EAT.
It should be noted the final will also played later today.
Football – Accra Sports Stadium
Men’s Football Final – 11PM EAT
Uganda Hippos have a chance to write history and become the first men’s football team to win a Championship on the continent.
Uganda Cranes lost 2-0 to Ghana in the 1978 Africa Cup of Nations Final while the Uganda Hippos lost by the same margin to Ghana in the 2021 U20 African Cup of Nations Final.
Today, the Uganda Hippos have a chance to revenge for the past losses.
