It will be survival for the fittest on the Lake Victoria islands of Kalangala district as the 2024 USSSA Greater Masaka football championship enters its final bend.

After the grueling group stages, it is now the quarter final with the standing eight schools in action on Friday, 12th April 2024.

Rivals St Henry’s College Kitovu and St Charles Lwanga Kasasa will face off at the Kaala playground (11 am) in one of the four matches in the morning.

Although both schools have a strong foundation stemming from the Catholic faith, there has always been big rivalry in sports and the academic spheres.

The encounter therefore, on Friday morning will present palatable fodder to the loyal fans aligning to either school as well as neutralists.

Under head coach Fred Kasekende, Kitovu comes to this encounter with a slight advantage, on paper with experienced players having also lost in the national final last year (2023) to St Mary’s Kitende at Nyakasura school in Fort Portal city.

This match will come after Masaka S.S’ contest against NUMASA at the same playground (9 am).

At the Lutoboka playground, the early at 9 am will see Sseke S.S up against Africa With Love Secondary School.

Five schools (including the hosts Masaka SS) shall represent Greater Masaka zone at this year’s USSSA boys’ football championship.
