Uganda Cricket announced Abhay Sharma as the new head coach of the Cricket Cranes ahead of the T20 World Cup in West Indies in June.

Sharma takes over from Jackson Ogwang who has been the interim coach since November when the contract of LaWrence Mahatlane was not renewed.

Abhay Sharma comes highly recommended for his experience working with top teams in the Ranji Trophy in India and with various national teams within India.

He has worked with some of the best players in the World and as Uganda prepares for their maiden appearance at the World Cup, the team should be confident that one of them has been at this level before.

Abhay Sharma’s first assignment with the Cricket Cranes will be their final preparation tour to Sri Lanka from April 25th – 11th May before flying out for the World Cup.

Uganda is in Group C alongside West Indies, New Zealand, Afghanistan and PNG at the World Cup. They will start their campaign on June 3rd against Afghanistan.
