Wanaichi player in action against Police in national handball super league on match day one at Old Kampala Sports Arena

For the women games, Police’s 63-26 victory over Wanainchi produced the most goals.

Women:

  • Police 63-26 Wanainchi
  • Kawanda S.S 47-22 Makerere University
  • Ndejje University 35-30 Nkajja

Men:

  • Ndejje University 50-24 Evergreen
  • Police 34-33 Uzalendo

The opening match day of the 2024 Uganda Handball super league was held on Saturday, 15th June at the Old Kampala Sports Arena.

364 goals were scored in the five matches played on the day.  Of these 223 goals were scored in three women games whilst 141 goals came in the two men matches.

For the women games, Police’s 63-26 victory over Wanainchi produced the most goals.

Patricia Arango scored the most goals, 12 to her name. Dorren Ondoa followed suit with 9 goals whilst new signing Lillian Achola had 8 goals.

Wanainchi’s Nakiganda and Kaluhas 8 and 7 goals respectively.

Kawanda Secondary School overcame Makerere University 47-22. Evelyn Aitasi shone for Kawanda SS with 16 goals as Moureen Orichiru hasd 11 goals.

Mercy Ahabyoya had 8 goals with Pretty Tusiime scoring 6 goals.

The third women game witnessed Ndejje University outscoring Nkajja 35-30.

Patience Damulira had 9 goals and Niyongera followed with 7 strikes for Ndejje University.

Shamim Mundia was top scorer for Nkajja Handball Club with 9 goals.

Men games:

Ndejje University smiled past Evergreen 50-24. Obedmohi V and Anzoretu scored 10 and 9 goals respectively for Ndejje University.

Isaac Atoe (9) and J. Mujjuni (6) led the scoring business for Evergreen.

Police’s Nathan Wokulira scored a game high 10 goals, followed by Isima Kisaliita (7).

Team Uzalendo had Daniel Opuna (8) with the most goals, one ahead of Kevin Afayo.

Next in pipeline:

The league resumes on Saturday, 22nd June 2024 with match day two with five matches lined up.

Prisons Spears will face Kyengeza Bees in the early kick off at 11 am. Makerere University shall tussle against Police in the second game.

At 2:00 PM, UPDF will square up against Victoria University.

The men will throw off with Evergreen against UPDF (3:30 PM) before Prisons Spears will entertain Makerere University during the last contest on the day at 5:00 PM.
